Trade the city for roaring waterfalls and wild nature at the Marmore Waterfalls, one of Italy’s most impressive natural sights, in the heart of the Umbrian countryside. Hike the park’s trails to see the cascades from different viewpoints, through lush woodland and up steep stairways close to the falls.

The route:
- Morning: Train from Rome to Terni, then bus to the waterfalls park
- Trails: Woodland paths, panoramic viewpoints and steep stairways that bring you close to the cascades
- Lunch: Break at a refreshment spot inside the park
- Afternoon: More trails, then back to Terni for the evening train to Rome
What’s included:
- Round-trip train between Rome and Terni
- Bus transfers to and from the waterfalls
- Park admission
- Lunch inside the park
- JCU staff with you all day
Not included: Dinner, extra snacks and drinks
Fitness & preparation: This is an active hiking trip, not a casual sightseeing walk. Expect several hours on the trails with steep sections, uneven surfaces and plenty of steps, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Be ready for a full day outdoors. If you don’t hike regularly, start walking longer distances and taking stairs a few weeks before the trip.
What to bring: Sturdy hiking shoes, comfortable outdoor clothing and plenty of water.

- Participants must be at least 18 years old by the start of the trip
- An athletic physical by an Italian sports doctor, done within 12 months of the trip start date, is required. Questions: athletics@johncabot.edu
