About the Cinque Terre!
The Cinque Terre, or “the five towns,” is a string of five old fishing villages perched high on the Italian Riviera in the region Liguria, which until recently were linked only by mule tracks and accessible only by rail or water. Hiking along this scenic coastline is the best way to explore the five villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
The Cinque Terre is noted for its beauty. Over centuries, people have carefully built terraces to cultivate grapes and olives on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the Mediterranean Sea. The breathtaking views of harbors far below the wild but hospitable coastline along with the medieval fortresses and plentiful vines and vibrant colors make this a memorable holiday.
The Cinque Terre Hiking Weekend trip has been designed to offer an incredible hiking experience along one of the greatest UNESCO Site in the world. We will have the chance to hike along the wonderful coasts of the Cinque Terre, where nature, villages, and terraces of vineyards offer fantastic surroundings to the challenging paths.
While we will spend most of our time hiking around the Cinque Terre, Portovenere, and Palmaria Island, there will also be time to discover the beauties of the small villages, getting lost among the local colorful alleys, and will also have free time to spend and relax at the wonderful beaches.
