Discover the Gargano with John Cabot University: an enchanting journey through the natural and cultural wonders of Puglia.
The Gargano, often referred to as the “spur” of Italy’s boot, is a land of contrasts: from ancient forests to dramatic cliffs plunging into the turquoise sea. This captivating region combines unspoiled nature, historic charm, and profound spirituality, making it the perfect destination for an unforgettable experience.
Our base for this adventure is a charming agritourism surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, a serene retreat in the Gargano countryside. Here, you’ll enjoy authentic hospitality and the flavors of Puglia, with meals prepared from locally sourced ingredients. Our journey begins with an exploration of Foresta Umbra, a lush, ancient woodland offering serene paths and breathtaking scenery.
We’ll continue to the coastal town of Vieste, famous for its whitewashed houses perched on cliffs above the Adriatic Sea and admire the stunning views of this postcard-perfect village.
A visit to the Lago di Varano, one of the largest coastal lakes in Italy, adds a unique element to our itinerary. Surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, the lake’s tranquil beauty provides the perfect setting to appreciate the region’s biodiversity and peaceful atmosphere.
The spiritual highlight of the trip is the Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled in the town of Monte Sant’Angelo. This sacred place, with its fascinating history and mystical atmosphere, has been a pilgrimage site for centuries.
A hands-on cooking class will immerse you in the culinary traditions of the region, as you learn to prepare Apulian specialties under the guidance of expert chefs. Additionally, we’ll take time for a meditation session, allowing you to connect with the tranquility of this enchanting landscape and embrace a moment of inner peace.
Join us for this exceptional journey through the Gargano, where nature, history, and spirituality come together to create an experience that will stay with you forever.
