Syrian Nights: A cultural food and stories experience
Looking for a meaningful night out in Rome that’s fun, social, and truly different? Join us for Syrian Nights—a cultural experience where you’ll cook, connect, and learn through food and real-life stories. You’ll be guided by Syrian refugee chefs living in Rome, who will share Syrian culture through authentic recipes, music, and storytelling. This experience creates a space to reflect on belonging, resilience, and community, while enjoying a great evening with other students. Cook together, try something new, and leave with new connections.
What You’ll Do
- Take part in a hands-on cooking class (no experience needed)
- Learn about Syrian customs and traditions through conversation and storytelling
- Enjoy cultural elements such as music, dance, and traditional attire (as available)
- Sit down for a full Syrian dinner after the class
- Cooking class led by an English-speaking Syrian chef
- All ingredients and equipment
- Dishes you’ll prepare: Syrian Burak (crispy cheese & vegetable rolls), Manakeesh (“mini pizza” with za’atar or cheese), Falafel (spiced chickpea fritters).
- Dinner with what you made + hummus, beetroot dip, and traditional drinks (ayran, mango juice)
- A standout international experience, beyond typical Rome activities.
- Great for meeting people and doing something memorable mid-semester.
- Your participation supports refugee empowerment and community-building initiatives.
